This is so inspiring. I love the idea of using the newsletter as a notebook, and a place for musings and inspiration. Engagement like this with the community is what makes substack so special.

I have recently started opening Patti’s emails, and the delight I feel at her ad hoc presentations…you put it so well. The lightness, the generosity, my god. It’s breathtaking. Well-said, and I like the spirit of devotion - both the one she has put into her life, and the one with which we arrive to see what treasures she will share. Thank you for putting words to it.

Patti Smith easily expresses her joy and her dedication to living a creative life in this world. Seeing her perform twice, while I lived in Seattle, are phenomenal memories.

It’s refreshing to once again read about Patti Smith after so many years of seeing or hearing nothing. I was beginning to think she had quietly left the earth.

Is this the Patti Smith that had a song "Here Comes the Night"?

Lol. Not sure why substack is promoting this to me. I talk about mostly white women and their racism.
